Andrew Charles Untener, Jr.

Andrew Charles Untener, Jr. beloved husband of Hope Livingston Untener, passed into Eternal Grace on September 15, 2012, after a prolonged illness. Devoted father of Luanne Untener, Andrew Charles Untener, III, Mary Suzanne Long (Bernard) and Hope Carolyn Moore (Terry). One grandchild, Marie-France Perrel. First child of Anna and Andrew Charles Untener, Sr., of Detroit, Michigan. Loving brother of Robert (Ruth), Sr. Mary Ann IHM, Rita (Jack) Dwyer, Dick (Dianna), Thomas (Bonnie), and Theresa (Ron) Weigand. Predeceased by Alice and Bishop Kenneth E. Untener. Graduate of Sacred Heart Seminary and attended Catholic University of America. Awarded scholarship to the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. Over nearly fifty years, he served in senior management of several trucking companies throughout the United States, primarily as vice-president of operations and labor relations. He was also integrally involved in expansions of these motor lines to Guatemala and Puerto Rico. An athlete all of his life, he excelled in hockey as a youth and was an avid golfer and tennis player as an adult, including memberships in Ponte-Vedra Country Club, Prestonwood Country Club and others as well. As a young man, he served as a camp counselor at Camp Sancta-Maria in Gaylord, Michigan. As an adult, he taught classes at Michigan State University, served as president of The Saturday Club in Detroit, the Boys Club of Jacksonville, FL, and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Andy and Hope enjoyed 63 years of a wonderful marriage together, and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and various favorite points around the world. Andy's presence will be missed by all who knew him. Andy was the very essence of true goodness, love of God and fellow man. He was the consummate gentleman.
