Alva Vega

Alva Vega, of Charleston, passed away Saturday September 2, 2017.The relatives and friends of Alva Vega are invited to attend her Funeral Service at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 7, 2017, at the James A. McAlister Chapel, 1620 Savannah Hwy.  Burial will follow in Riverview Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.Daughter of Elsa and Carmelo Vega, Alva was born on August 13, 1964 in Manhattan, New York. She was, along with her twin brother, the youngest of six vibrant children who supported each other through thick and thin. Shortly after graduating from Socastee High School in South Carolina, Alva fell in love with her future husband and eventually became the mother of three children. Alva was very passionate about her career in makeup and design, which spanned over 25 years. Over the course of her career, Alva hired and trained hundreds of workers and guided countless more through teaching seminars and mentoring programs. Her passion for teaching was outweighed only by her unshakeable faith. No matter the situation, her strength and determination was unwavering. She was a constant source of motivation for family, friends, and anyone else willing to open their hearts to her. Alva is survived by her three children, John Ross Greene, Hunter Blake Greene, and Jade Vega Greene; and her five siblings, David Rivera, Elsa Moore, Jazmin Cortes, Vivien Vega, and Alvin Vega.
