Agnes Catherine Knight Thompson of Charleston, SC, entered into eternal rest on October 16, 2017, at her daughter’s home. The relatives and friends of Agnes K. Thompson are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM, Friday, October 20, 2017, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM, Thursday evening, at the James A. McAlister Funeral Home, 1620 Savannah Hwy. A Vigil Service will begin at 7:30 PM. Agnes was born in Summerville, SC, on September 18, 1929, to the late Oscar Emanuel Knight and Essie Bunch Knight. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, Joseph Francis Thompson, to whom she was married for 58 years.Aggie, as she was known, is survived by her daughter, Jan Thompson Coisson, and her husband, David, her son, Joseph Francis Thompson, Jr., and his wife, Laura, and her son, Roy Michael Thompson, and his wife, Bridget; her granddaughter, Jennifer Michelle Coisson, and three grandsons, Joseph Jenkins Thompson, M.D., David Joseph Coisson, Jr., and his wife, Katie, and Roy Michael Thompson, Jr., and his wife, Jennifer; and three great-grandchildren, David Joseph Coisson III, Harper McKenzie Coisson, and Jaxon Gregory Coisson-Jones. She is predeceased by her sister, Valda Knight Leyh, and survived by her brothers, Emanuel David Knight and Melvin Clyde Knight, and his wife, Marlene, and her sister, Nettie Knight Poulnot, and her husband, Wilton; and her sister-in-law, Beverly Thompson Craven, her uncle-in-law, James Frasier Laurey, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.Aggie was a devout Catholic and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for over 50 years. While her children were attending Bishop England High School, she enjoyed volunteering. She also enjoyed working part-time for many years at Loehman’s in Charleston. Aggie loved raising plants, especially geraniums and Christmas cactus, and her sunroom was bright with beautiful flowers year-round. Aggie’s greatest joy in life was caring for her family. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Everyone who knew her loved her. Aggie loved animals, and most especially her dog and best buddy, Paco.
