Agnes Pratt Burns

January 9, 2020 — February 11, 2012

Agnes Pratt Burns of Charleston departed this life on February 11, 2012. She was the widow of Lofton M. "Pappy" Burns. Aggie, as she was known to all her friends and family, was born in Atlanta, GA, on November 9, 1920, one of eight children to Julia Eberenz and Henry Joseph Pratt. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Atlanta after 12 years of perfect attendance. In her younger years she worked for the railway company in Atlanta during World War II, and later as a civil service employee at Laredo Air Force Base in Texas. Once she and Pappy moved to Charleston in 1957, her focus became home and family. Aggie enjoyed bowling and was an avid Bridge player who loved spending time with her friends. She gave freely of her time to the church over the years and was always ready with a helping hand for anyone who needed it. Aggie was noted for many accomplishments during her life, but would want most to be remembered for her love and devotion to her "little darlings" (her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren). She is survived by four loving children: Agnes Annette Burns; William Duncan Burns (Judi Crowe); Barbara Burns Pike; Julia Burns Hamilton (Jack); 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. The relatives and friends of Agnes P. Burns are invited to attend her Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
