James A McAlister, III

James A. McAlister is owner and operator of the James A. McAlister Funeral Home. He is a fourth generation funeral director and has worked in this profession since 1985. He and his wife, Philippa, have three children, James IV, Catherine and John.

Carol Buchanan

Carol Buchanan is our Administrative Assistant, and has worked in the funeral profession in Charleston since 1976. She assists the families we serve with help on where to go and what to do after the funeral. Carol is a member and Eucharistic Minister of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She is the mother of Gray M. Buchanan and the late Rev. Scott J.A. Buchanan as well as a proud grandmother to Zachary and Allyson Buchanan.

Marc T. Kanapaux

Marc T. Kanapaux is a second generation funeral director and embalmer. He is a member of Pi Sigma Eta, Theta Chapter, the National Honors Fraternity of Morticians and a graduate of Gupton - Jones College of Funeral Service. Marc has served his community in the funeral profession for over twenty years and resides on James Island.

Melissa C. Kurzawa

Melissa is an apprentice funeral director and embalmer. She worked in the shipping industry before pursuing her lifelong dream of a career in funeral service. She resides in West Ashley with her husband Jon, and three children, Robby, Holden and Kaleb.
